Cāmpulung la Tisa

Cāmpulung la Tisa is about 10 kilometre west of Sighetu Marmatiei at the road to Satu Mare. From there you can wonderful trips walking through the hills south of the village with a view at the Tisa valley, with the Ukraine on the other side of the river.
In Sighet you will find an open air museum with among others the house of Elie Wiesel. A trip to the Ukraine is possible, because the huge oak bridge is a border crossing since November 2006. Furthermore the resistance museum is impressive and a visit to the market is pure enjoy.
West of Cāmpulung la Tisa is the village Sapanta with the famous Merry Graves and the monastery. Crossing some Carpates there is Negresti with splendid costumes on special days.
East of Cāmpulung a visit to Giulesti is fun, because the is the living open air museum, people live in old houses, a must to see. From there it is not far to the monastery of Bārzane in Iza valley. In summer on Sundays open air church ceremony for Orthodoxies.
